What is a good CTR for Pinterest ads?
Short answer
Pinterest's help pages give no official benchmark for a good CTR. Pinterest defines CTR as total Pin clicks divided by total impressions, so judge it against your own past campaigns and your cost per result.
How Pinterest measures clicks
- CTR: total Pin clicks divided by total impressions.
- Pin click rate: clicks from your Pin or ad to content on or off Pinterest, divided by the times it was on screen.
- Outbound click rate: clicks to your destination URL divided by the times your Pin was on screen.
Read CTR with care
- A Pin click can open the Pin in close-up without leaving Pinterest, so CTR can look healthy while outbound traffic stays low.
- For traffic and conversion goals, outbound click rate and cost per result say more.
- Compare like with like: the same format, objective and audience over the same period.
In practice
Set your own baseline from the first few weeks, then test creative and keywords against it. Pinterest’s Performance+ campaigns take about two weeks on average to clear learning, so do not judge CTR too early. For app marketers, Pinterest no longer offers app install ads, so measure it on web or deep-link actions.
