Short answer
It is a good idea when your audience uses Snapchat and you can supply vertical video creative and enough budget to learn. Snapchat reports 971 million monthly active users, and its App Promotion objective optimises for installs and in-app actions.
Signs it fits
- Your users are on Snapchat. Snapchat says half of its US users are over 25, so it is not only a teen channel.
- You can make short creative. Snapchat’s app install guide suggests 3 to 5 seconds is enough for the message, with sound, since it says two-thirds of Snaps are played with sound on.
- Your tracking is ready: SKAdNetwork on iOS and a mobile measurement partner on Android.
Signs to wait
- Your budget cannot cover Snapchat’s recommended $20 to $50 a day.
- You cannot let a test run through the Exploration Phase, typically 4 days or more, and Snapchat’s suggested 15 days for app installs.
In practice
Treat Snapchat as a test with a fixed budget and a clear success metric, such as cost per retained user or day-7 revenue. Run it alongside your current channels so you can see whether it adds new users or repeats the ones you already reach.
