What are Telegram ads?
Telegram ads are short sponsored messages shown at the bottom of public channels with 1,000 or more subscribers, clearly labelled Sponsored.
The format is deliberately minimal: up to 160 characters of text, an optional image and a link that routes to your site, app store page or Telegram bot. There is no feed takeover and no autoplay video. Your message has to earn the tap on the strength of the copy alone.
Targeting works by channel topic and category, such as Finance, Crypto, Technology or Gaming, not by personal profiles. You choose the editorial context your ad appears in, which makes brand safety unusually transparent compared with algorithmic paid social placements.
Attribution is click based through URL parameters in your MMP. Telegram does not touch Apple’s IDFA framework, so there is no ATT prompt and no iOS signal loss. With 950M+ monthly active users and a self-serve auction starting at a €2 CPM, the channel is still far less crowded than Meta or Google.
Telegram’s audience overlaps surprisingly little with other social platforms. For the right app, this is not a secondary channel. It is an audience you simply cannot buy anywhere else.

Telegram is the default community platform of the crypto economy. Exchanges, wallets, DeFi protocols and Web3 games run their communities in Telegram channels, so your ad reaches people who already transact in crypto and actively evaluate new tools.
For crypto apps, Telegram is often the most efficient primary channel, not a side bet.

Telegram users self-select for privacy. VPNs, secure messaging and password managers find a receptive audience in privacy and digital rights channels.
