There is no fixed price. Pinterest ads run on an auction, and you only pay the minimum needed to win, up to your bid. If you bid $3 and $0.50 wins the auction, Pinterest charges $0.50.
Two ways to bid
- Custom bids: you set the maximum an action is worth to you and change it whenever you like.
- Pinterest Performance+ bids: Pinterest manages the bid and updates it automatically several times a day.
What shapes your cost
- Bid floors vary by country and ad format.
- Costs often fluctuate at the start of a campaign while Pinterest’s delivery system searches for results.
- Your campaign objective, such as awareness, consideration, leads or sales, decides what you bid on.
How much to budget
Pinterest recommends a daily budget of at least 5 times your cost per result goal when you judge on cost per action. For example, a $10 target cost per sign-up points to at least $50 a day. That is arithmetic on Pinterest’s guidance, not a benchmark.
In practice
Start with Performance+ bids so the system can learn, then switch to custom bids only when you know what a result is worth from your own data. Pinterest no longer runs app install ads, so app marketers bid on web or shopping outcomes and use mobile deep links to bring people into the app.
